If so, why not come along to a seminar the 5 Towns Network are holding on Friday 4th July between 9.15am - 1.30pm at Ropetackle Arts Centre, Shoreham-by-Sea. Hear good practice from other towns including Worthing, Shoreham-by-Sea and Crawley across West Sussex about how they undertake public art schemes in their towns. Also presenting will be Artpoint, an organisation in the South East part funded by the Arts Council who advocate and establish opportunities for artists to create new work within public contexts. This will be an opportunity to learn from others and promote good practice across West Sussex.


Thriving Coastal Town Economies: Towards Asset Based Regeneration – Guy Rubin

You are invited to the 'Thriving Coastal Town Economies: Towards Asset Based Regeneration' module that BURA are running. This was an earlier planned seminar to take place in February 2008 that had to be cancelled at the last minute.

This day long seminar is taking place on Friday 11th July between 9.15am and 4.30pm. Venue is still to be confirmed.

This module offers an historical overview to the rise, decline and renaissance of Coastal Town economies across the UK. It will aim to look at how effective regeneration has been in delivering sustainable communities in the Coastal towns and focus extensively on the unique features of labour markets in Coastal Towns. The afternoon session will in particular take an in depth look at how the Hasting LEGI has focused on the positive and innovative policies that Hastings and other Coastal Towns have introduced to tackle the underlying problems and the last part of the day will address how this best practice can be drawn upon in the revival and regeneration of Coastal Towns. A programme has been attached for your interest. Places are limited for this event.
